As you may know, recent Congressional action has caused many lenders in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP), including Student Loan Xpress (SLX), to reassess their ability to serve borrowers and their families.  After careful review, SLX has decided to close their student lending origination operations, effective April 3, 2008.  Any current loans and repayment schedules will not be changed.  Student Loan Xpress will honor and service all loans that we have disbursed to date.

The Office of Financial Aid is currently reviewing our process and will be updating their online lender list by May 10, 2008.  All current SLX borrowers at USF will be sent a letter by April 25, 2008 detailing the steps needed to be taken for any future loans, including summer sessions.

UPDATE:  This letter was generated and sent on Friday, April 25 as planned.  A representative will be available in Trinity Hall on April 30, 2008 from 10 - 2 to assist in signing a new MPN for future borrowing.  A printed list was mailed with the letter.  The electronic list will be available May 10, 2008 to electronically sign a new MPN.  A preview of the list is in PDF format below.
