Adjunct Sociology Faculty

The University of Saint Francis has an opening for adjunct faculty in the History and Social Sciences department within the Sociology program.  The department has excellent resources, an extremely strong core faculty, and an applicant pool that allows us to attract outstanding students.  Adjunct faculty play an essential role in the department and the Sociology program specifically. 

In addition to experience teaching Introduction to Sociology, candidates should have an interest in Environmental Sociology, Sociology of Sports, or the Sociology of Health.  Teaching experience at the post-secondary level is required to be considered for this position. The position may include teaching on-campus classes and web-based classes. Applicants should have demonstrated experience teaching with Blackboard software. Applicants should have experience in service learning pedagogies and directing student projects.  A background in project management is preferred.

Candidates should have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Sociology from a regionally accredited institution, or have sufficient documented, specialized experience to be qualified to serve as an adjunct faculty member in the department.  A Ph.D. in Sociology is preferred.

Adjunct Faculty – Legal Studies

The Department of History and Social Sciences at the University of Saint Francis solicits applications for adjunct faculty to teach part time in the new Legal Studies program. This new major emphasizes the study of law and legal systems within a broader Liberal Arts context. Applicants must have advanced academic credentials appropriate to the discipline and some college level teaching experience preferred. Candidates must be able to articulate their teaching philosophy for both introductory and advanced upper level courses. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and positions will be filled as needed beginning with the fall 2010 semester. Associate Dean of Students

The University of Saint Francis has an opening for an Associate Dean of Students.  Responsibilities include planning, coordinating and administering a comprehensive student program that supports a student centered environment for traditional and nontraditional aged students. The successful candidate will develop a good rapport with students, demonstrate effective problem solving abilities, and strong communication and organizational skills.  Will also be responsible for developing programming for commuter students, parents, minority students, new student orientation and is the campus judicial officer.  Master’s degree in counseling, student affairs or education is required along with related experience in a higher education environment.   Send letter of interest and resume by email to searchcommittee@sf.edu or by mail by February 17, 2010 to the address above.


EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY FACULTY

Academic Coordinator for Coordinator for Clinical Education

Department of Physical Therapist Assistant Studies

University of Saint Francis is seeking an individual for the position of Academic Coordinator for Coordinator for Clinical Education.  Successful candidate must have the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate instruction for physical therapists assistant students in clinical and classroom settings in coordination with established course and program objectives.  Responsibilities include:

  • Serving as primary coordinator of clinical rotation and practicum schedules.
  • Providing for the establishment, monitoring, and evaluation of clinical rotation sites including the supervision and guidance for other faculty members/clinical instructors involved in these duties.
  • Communicating with the Center Coordinators of Clinical Education related to the curriculum the clinical schedule, the preparation of students prior to each affiliation and the expectations and desired outcomes for each clinical experience.
  • Promoting training and development of the Center Coordinators of Clinical Education and Clinical Instructors through sharing relevant information, planning and providing educational experiences at clinical sites, and planning and providing workshops for clinical faculty at the University of Saint Francis.
  • Mentoring clinical instructors/preceptors to ensure quality clinical instruction and accurate student performance evaluation.
  • Overseeing the establishment and management of appropriate clinical affiliation agreements and associated insurance coverage.
  • Verifying that all students have completed pre-participation requirements for clinical sites and clinical orientation prior to beginning clinical experiences.
  • Maintaining effective communication both verbally, in writing, and electronically with students, faculty, clinical agencies, and health care professionals for use in program research, assessment of students’ performance, the clinical schedule, coordination of clinical experiences, and overall effectiveness of department.

Position includes some travel, significant telephone and electronic communication with clinical faculty, and teaching in both lecture and laboratory courses. 

Academic and experiential qualifications appropriate to faculty role.

  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapy or physical therapist assistant education program.

    • For the Physical Therapist Assistant:

  • Associate degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required.

  • Master’s degree in a related field or plan in progress and completion within five years of date of hire.

  • For the Physical Therapist:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy (prior to 2000) or a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy or entry level Doctoral of Physical Therapy is required.

  • Doctorate in a related field is preferred.

Licensure/Certification

  • Current Indiana license as a PT or certificate as a PTA is required.

 Experience

  • Minimum of five years of experience as PT or PTA

  • Minimum of three years of prior teaching experience in a university setting including clinical teaching with progressive leadership experience. 

  • Prior experience in a managerial role preferred.

COMPUTER ART FACULTY

The University of Saint Francis School of Creative Arts has an opening for a tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor in the Computer Art beginning August 15, 2010. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, serve as Program Director, supervise SIGGRAPH - Student chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH, advise students, and service to SOCA through recruitment, community involvement and various administrative duties.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: MFA in computer art, completed by August 10, 2010

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated evidence of successful teaching at the college level beyond TA and ideal candidates should possess industry experience in 3D Animation and/or Motion Graphics. Candidate should possess broad 3/D design knowledge with the ability to teach a variety of software at a variety of levels (beginner to advanced).  Candidate must be proficient with Maya, After Effects, 3/D character design/modeling/animation, lighting and rendering, and Final Cut Pro. Candidate should be familiar with CSS, HTML, XHTML and Dream Weaver.  Candidate should have a working knowledge of Flash, Illustrator and Photoshop. Additionally, the candidate will have excellent leadership, problem solving and interpersonal skills.  The successful candidate must be a team player.

STUDIO ART – CERAMICS FACULTY

The University of Saint Francis School of Creative Arts (SOCA) has an opening for a tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor of Ceramics in the Studio Art Program beginning August 15, 2010. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, assist in the supervision of Art League – a student art club, advise students, and service to SOCA through recruitment, community involvement and various administrative duties.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

MFA in ceramics, completed by August 10, 2010

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

Demonstrated evidence of successful teaching at the college level beyond TA and ideal candidates should possess experience with the operation of reduction kilns, electric kilns, raku kilns, soda kilns and wood kilns. Curriculum requires instruction in hand-building techniques, wheel throwing and basic mold-making.  A strong background in glaze calculation is highly preferred.  Candidate should possess broad 3/D design knowledge with the ability to teach a variety of levels (beginner to advanced).  Candidate should have a distinguished exhibition record.  Additionally, the candidate will have excellent leadership, problem solving and interpersonal skills.  The successful candidate must be a team player.
