Welcome to the Blackboard Information website at the University of Saint Francis. Whether you're a student or Faculty member you will find a wealth of useful information regarding Blackboard on these pages. For questions and queries click on either the Faculty FAQ or Student FAQ in the menu above. Most questions you have regarding Blackboard can be answered by scrolling through the various topics contained in the FAQs. Training sessions are available to Faculty and instructors throughout the year. Please click on the links to view the training schedule and sign up for sessions. Blackboard at the University of Saint Francis
Blackboard is a learning management system that enhances the educational experiences of students, whether they are taking a traditional on-campus, hybrid or web-based class at the University of Saint Francis. Students and professors are actively engaged through the use of instruction, communication and assessment tools. With Blackboard, faculty may post documents for students to review, create online assessments that are graded and featured automatically within the Gradebook; host discussion forums; conduct an online lecture through the Virtual Classroom or experience live, synchronous interaction via the Chat room.' post audio, video or even podcasts. Adaptive release parameters mean that instructors can control and determine learning activities. Personal information management capabilities enhance students' and instructors' work management through the Calendar, Tasks and Email. Blackboard can take your on-line course from being to doing with its robust, intuitive and easy to use application.
Blackboard is an online applicatiion and may be accessed from any computer with internet access. To access Blackboard at the University of Saint Francis a user must log in using their Saint Francis' network user name and password. Blackboard is supported by a Windows* platform but works well using MAC OS X. The University of Saint Francis is currently running version 7.3 of the Blackboard Learning System, part of the Academic Suite.
* Please note that Microsoft IE 7 / Vista OS is not yet optimized fully for Blackboard at the time of going to press. It is recommended if you are running IE 7 or Vista on your Windows machine and experiencing issues, particularly if taking a test within the Blackboard application, to either use a computer with IE 6 or download a free version of Mozilla's Firefox. Alternatively GO MAC.
