Minutes from January 23, 2007, SIFE Meeting

Things covered in the January 23, 2007, SIFE meeting:

Finance 101 with
Serbia:

We have finally gotten in touch with Boza and we are tentatively planning on setting up a Skype conversation with them sometime in February! As soon as we know more, we will pass it along! If you are interested in taking part of the conversation, let us know so we have an idea of who wants to take part in this! It should be a lot of fun!

Career Fair:

We have gotten all of the flyers printed and they will be sent within the week to all local businesses to as if they would be interested in participating in our Career Fair. We have decided to have two mini sessions as opposed to the four that we had originally planned. On February 20th from 12-1:30 and from 5:15-6:15 we will be having a resume building session in the first floor lobby area. During the week of February 12-16th we are asking for SIFE members to go to all of the business classes if at all possible to encourage students to attend the Career Fair. If you are interested in speaking to classes, please contact one of the officers! We sure could use your help!

Business Roundtables:

It is decided that we are going to have our Business Roundtables in Hutzell on Thursday February 15, 2007 from 12-1:30. There are about 5 business leaders that have agreed to come thus far; we are still working on 3-5 more to assure the business luncheon is a success. We should know by next meeting, hopefully, which business leaders will be here to talk to us!

T-Shirts and Polos:

Our money and invoice has been turned in to Denny so our T-Shirts should be in sometime within the next two weeks! YAY!!

Company Visit:

We have received a phone call from former SIFE member Tywan Cole who is now working for Enterprise Rent-A-Car and he is very interested in coming to a meeting to talk about his company. There is no date ironed out yet, but we will let you know when he will be coming to speak to us!

Annual Report:

We really need to get started with our annual reports and we are hoping that we can recruit a graphic arts student or at the very least someone who knows a lot about graphic art to help us make the best possible annual report for competition. If you or someone you know are interested, please contact an officer IMMEDIATELY!

Active Member count:

We are going to begin our count for those members going on the trip to competition. We have decided that the officers and project managers are definitely getting a seat in Chicago. As far as the rest of our count goes, we are going to look at attendance of members. Please let me know whether or not you are interested in joining us in Chicago. Remember, competition is on Sunday March 18th and March 19th. We will be leaving at noon on Sunday and coming back around 10 or 11 on Monday night. That is also the last Sunday of Spring Break so please take that into consideration!

Fund Raising ideas:

Please let us know if you have any fund raising ideas, we are in need of some funding for our Regional Competition and hopefully our National Competition. Aaron is going to try getting a hold of Ian Rolland about contributing and we are still hoping that we will receive some funding from Tower Bank. If anything comes up and you think it’s a good idea, feel free to email any of the officers, we would love to hear your ideas!

Website Update:

We have finally gotten our website updated and it is looking great thanks to our wonderful friend Cathy Lewis! Check it out when you get a chance and if you have any ideas that you think would add itself nicely to the layout, please let us know! We are planning on having the minutes from our meeting placed there every week so you can always check there if you miss a meeting!

Congratulate Matt Altenburger on becoming our official historian! He will be the one with the camera at all of our SIFE events!!

Thank you for your time and your effort, I am confident that if we keep up the good work, we will have no problems at competition!!

See you next week!!

Please email me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns!! J
