    special challenges encountered by family-owned businesses such as:

  • Relationships among family members (sibling partnerships, in-laws, parents/children in business, etc.)

Quarterly Seminars
Four times a year, members of the Family Business Center at the University of Saint Francis gather to hear the latest word on topics of interest to family-owned businesses. Top experts from around the nation impart cutting-edge in such area as entrprenurship, succession issues, strategic planning, family dynamics, fanily business governance, and taxes.

Roundtable Discussions
Regularly scheduled roundtable meetings allows members the opportunity to share experiences and discuss issues of concern to family business. These discussions provide insight, identify areas needing further exploration and offer solutions to today’s most important business questions.

Next Generation Program
When a business includes several generations of a family, many unique opportunities and concerns arise. The Next Generation leadership group is an affinity group within the FBC that allows discussion of such issues among those who will run the business in the future. The Resulting cooperation can benefit everyone by encouraging growth and development as future leaders.

Networking
Establishing relationships and building support groups is vital in every business. The Family Business Center provides many ways to get to know people, to network and develop key friendships.

Referral Service
The FBC maintains a referral service to help members locate the services and resources they need to realize their fullest potential.

Family Business Center Library
The Family Business Center maintains a library containing many publications which address family business matters. Here members can find resources to answer tough questions about succession, trusts and other hard-to-track-down information.

Newsletter
The FBC publishes a newsletter that not only briefs members on important issues and event, but helps keep them familiar with other businesses in the area.
