Lupke Gallery hours: Mon.-Fri., 9 a.m.-noon / 1-5 p.m.

An Evening with John Paul Caponigro, Wednesday Oct. 2, 2013, 7:30 p.m. The University of Saint Francis, North Campus Auditorium.

The lecture is made possible by the Canon Explorers of Light program, Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne, the Indiana Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.

John Paul Caponigro is an environmental fine art landscape photographer, the son of American photographer Paul Caponigro and graphic designer Eleanor Caponigro. John Paul attended Yale University and the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he was trained as a painter and later as a photographer. After college John moved to Maine and became an artist-in-residence at The Center for Creative Imaging. He now works with photo-based digital imaging as his primary medium. John has been awarded membership in many photographic organizations including the Photoshop Hall of Fame, the Epson Stylus Pros, Xrite Coloratti, and the Canon Explorers of Light. His work crosses the lines between photography and painting and displays knowledge of painterly composition and color theory, coupled with content of modern science, psychology, primal cultures, and the environment. The photographer Arnold Newman said, “...Caponigro's mysterious and magical images go beyond reality or surrealism. He has created a wonderful new world of his own.”
