SOCA Presents "The Will Rogers Follies"
The School of Creative Arts (SOCA) will present "The Will Rogers Follies" in the USF Performing Arts Center at 431 W. Berry Street, Nov. 9-11 and 16-18. Through Follies-like variety acts and lavish production numbers, the show tells the life of humorist and actor Will Rogers who headlined the Ziegfeld Follies. Leslie Beauchamp and Todd Frymier direct the SOCA performance, with choreography by Abby Ehinger.
Opening on Broadway in 1990, "The Will Rogers Follies" ran for nearly a thousand performances to great acclaim, winning six Tony Awards, three Drama Desk Awards and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical. Musical numbers include "I Never Met a Man I Didn't Like" and "Give a Man Enough Rope," while the show reveals all the radio and film actor's humor, complete with lasso tricks and tap-dancing cowboys.
Admission is $15 for the general public, and $12 for seniors and children under age 10. Discounts are available for groups, and doors open half an hour before show time for general seating. Visit our website for more information, including a full schedule of performance dates and times.
