Donors, students meet at scholarship luncheon 2011
Some of the university's most important donors met the most important people they help - our students - at the seventh annual Scholarship Luncheon on April 27. One hundred scholarship sponsors, students and USF faculty and staff discussed university life, students' future plans and personal life during the event.
Thomas Gallmeyer offered his perspective as a donor; he's a USF director who sits on the Arthur & Josephine Beyer Foundation board and sponsors an annual scholarship with his wife, Cathy. Tom offered insights on giving from Winston Churchill to Mother Teresa.
Andrea Jandernoa, who graduated this year with degrees in art and English, was the student speaker. She recalled key events from her years at USF, from a freshman class which resulted in a trip to Ethiopia to meet the author of a book which had moved her deeply, to teaching in India last summer. In the 2011-2012 school year, 154 students received more than $272,000 in assistance from the university's endowed and annual scholarships.
