New Media Exploration: Michael Dinges, Dennis Lee Mitchell, Brett Freund, Alessandro Bavari - 1.18.14-2.26.14

An exhibition at the University of Saint Francis will feature four artists who push the creative boundaries of traditional media: Michael Dinges, Dennis Lee Mitchell, Brett Freund and Alessandro Bavari. The exhibit’s opening reception will be held Jan. 18, 6-9 p.m.

Dinges and Mitchell create “drawings” in a nontraditional way, and Freund is an emerging ceramic sculptor. Alessandro Bavari creates digital images and computer multimedia animation.

Cougar Chill – 2.22.14

Cougar Chill is a polar plunge event being held by the USF Student Nurses Association (SNA) on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 10 a.m.

Participants may register the day of the event to jump into Mirror Lake. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. in the Student Center behind Trinity Hall. Participants may also register online.

Mad Ants Game - Alumni Event - 3.1.2014

Shoot over to the Mad Ants basketball game and grab all the action with other USF students, employees, alumni and their families on Saturday, Mar. 1 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 per person. 2014 Servus Omnium Lecture and Breakfast - 3.4.2014

The second Servus Omnium will take place at the USF Performing Arts Center beginning at 7 a.m. with a blessing and prayer by Bishop Kevin Rhoades of the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese. A Mardi Gras breakfast buffet immediately follows, with keynote speaker James Berlucci delivering his lecture, 7:45-8:45 a.m.

Berlucci, executive director of the Spitzer Center for Ethical Leadership, is an educator, speaker, executive coach and author. He has worked with leadership teams and staffs in dioceses, schools, parishes, hospitals and apostolates across the United States. He also worked with Tom Monaghan, founder of Domino’s Pizza and former owner of the Detroit Tigers, as executive director of Legatus, an international organization of practicing Catholic laymen and laywomen.

38th Annual High School Art Exhibition - 3.6.2014-3.23.2014

The 38th Annual High School Art Exhibition will open Thursday, March 6 with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. A variety of awards will be presented at 7 p.m. to the most outstanding student artworks on display.

DeBrand’s meet-and-greet setting stage for “Wonka” production - 3.16.2014

Families anticipating USF’s production of “Willy Wonka” at the USF Performing Arts Center can sweeten the deal with a meet and greet and Wonka Tour at DeBrand’s Chocolates, 10105 Auburn Park Drive, Fort Wayne, on Sunday, March 16 from 1-4 p.m.

Guests will meet Willy Wonka and other characters from the children’s classic in the DeBrand’s shop, and experience a special Wonka Tour with DeBrand’s own Oompa Loompa tour guides. DeBrand’s employees will make something special to taste in each kitchen toured, and have chocolate samples available for all. Tickets are $10 each.

Visitors can take photos, get autographs and purchase tickets for “Willy Wonka.”

The School of Creative Arts and the Fort Wayne Youth Theatre present the classic children’s story Willy Wonka in performances from March 21 through March 30. Easter Basket Drive - 3.24.2014-4.14.2014

The University of Saint Francis will participate in the annual Easter Basket Drive hosted by the Northeast Indiana Alumni Directors Consortium (NIADC), March 24 through April 14. Other universities collecting Easter baskets include IPFW and Ivy Tech Community College Northeast. We will donate the baskets to SCAN (Stop Child Abuse and Neglect) on Wednesday, April 16. SCAN is a not-for-profit organization aimed at eliminating child abuse by "preparing parents and protecting children." Established in 1974, SCAN serves 13 counties in northern Indiana, including Allen County. These baskets can be dropped off at USF at Brookside or any other participating university that is convenient for you. Focus on Health – 4.11.2014

The University of Saint Francis’ North Campus at 2702 Spring St. will serve as a Focus on Health site on Friday, April 11, 8 a.m.-noon. Focus on Health is an annual citywide event to provide free health screenings and reduced-fee medical tests in an effort to expand health awareness in the community.

USF has provided a Focus on Health site for seven years, and offers more services from a broader range of staff and students than any other Focus on Health site. The effort is part of the university’s Wellness Committee initiatives through the School of Health Sciences (SOHS). The Department of Psychology and the Department of Exercise Science and Health also help in making this event happen.

Various organizations will staff displays and provide educational materials. Highlights this year will include “Ask a Pharmacist” and “Ask a Dietitian.” SOHS students, along with students from other USF schools, will assist the many exhibitors, and faculty members and nurse practitioners will provide health summary reviews and resource referrals after the screenings. Door prizes will be given away to participants at regular intervals throughout the event.

Campus Visit Day – 4.12.14

The University of Saint Francis will hold its Spring Campus Visit Day on Saturday, April 12. The event offers prospective students the chance to tour the campus, participate in breakout sessions, talk with professors and mingle with current students. “St. Francis/Pope Francis: Don’t Forget the Poor” lecture - 4.13.2014

Sister Anita Holzmer will present “St. Francis / Pope Francis: Don’t Forget the Poor” at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 13 in the Brookside ballroom, located on the third floor of Brookside. The presentation is part of an annual lecture series offered as a service to the campus and regional communities. In the series, the faculty of the University of Saint Francis’ Department of Philosophy and Theology provide a forum for communicating and discussing important topics within the Catholic and Franciscan tradition.

St. Joseph School of Nursing Reunion Dinner - 4.25.2014

If you're a St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing graduate, you won't want to miss the 2014 All Years Reunion, Friday, April 25 at the University of Saint Francis' North Campus. The celebration includes a cash bar, which opens at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Cost of the event is $27 per person and an invitation will be sent in March.

Hosted by the Class of 1965, the 2014 Reunion offers an opportunity for all graduating classes of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing to catch up with their classmates and enjoy a great evening of fun together. During the course of the evening, the Class of 1964 will be honored.

USF Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement - 5.3.2014

The University of Saint Francis Baccalaureate Mass will take place at 9:30 a.m. on May 3 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Fort Wayne, Ind. Free parking is available adjacent to the Cathedral, off Lewis Street. The USF Commencement will begin at 2 p.m. at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

Tin Caps Game - Alumni Event - 5.31.2014

This Alumni Family Event is perfect for all ages. So, pack up your family and swing over to Parkview Field Saturday, May 31 for a TinCaps baseball game.

The game starts at 7:05 p.m., with great food provided 30 minutes prior to the game, and at the ends of the first, third and fifth innings. Seating is available in the Treetops Rooftop party area, which is located directly down the right-field foul line. This unique seating area is modeled after the famous fixtures in the outfield at Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, and provides a unique vantage point to take in all the baseball action. There's also plenty of pre-game entertainment and some spectacular post-game fireworks. Adult ticket is $25 and Child ticket (age 2-7) is $15. Cougar Classic 2014 – 8.1.2014

Here’s a chance to enjoy 18 holes of golf with other alumni and friends while showing support for USF student-athletes. It’s the third annual Cougar Classic on Friday, Aug. 1 at Bridgewater Golf Club in Auburn, Ind. Registration/breakfast is at 8 a.m. with tee-off at 9:30, followed by lunch and awards. Plus, each golfer is invited to a VIP reception at the Fort Wayne home of 11-year National Football League veteran Jason Fabini on Thursday evening, July 31. Co-host for the event is Keith Busse, Steel Dynamics founder and CEO.
