Cougar football season ends with loss at Georgetown College
USF's Cougars were just inches from a touchdown in the second quarter of their Nov. 26 game against third-ranked Georgetown College, but the opposition's defense held tough, and the Cougars ceded their final game of the season 26-14.
USF finished 9-3 in the 14th season for the football program, while Georgetown advances to the NAIA Football Championship Series at Carroll on Dec. 3.
GC (12-0) took a 3-0 lead in the second quarter, then outscored USF 23-14 in the second half. Senior Frank Wolfe III scored for the Cougars with 2:43 to play in the third quarter, cutting the GC lead to 17-7. After GC scored on its next possession, senior quarterback Justin Boser connected with senior wingback Koby Frye for USF's second touchdown at 7:27 in the fourth quarter.
Weather conditions were unbelievably beautiful for the last weekend in November, warm, breezy, and mostly sunny.
