Judith Personett ('62) was selected to receive the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) Exceptional Contribution Award. She accepted her award on Aug. 4, 2011 in Indianapolis, IN.
Daniel Avila (BA '81) recently joined the policy staff of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops as the new Policy Advisor for Marriage & Family, a position created to support the Bishops' Subcommittee on the Promotion and Defense of Marriage. Dan comes to the U.S. Bishops' national office in Washington, D.C., from the Massachusetts Catholic Conference, where he served as Associate Director for Policy & Research, assisting the Roman Catholic Bishops in the Commonwealth on a range of public policy issues since 1997. He has researched and written extensively about marriage and its protection as the union of man and woman, and is keenly familiar with the opportunities and challenges associated with the debate over redefining marriage. Dan received his Juris Doctor from Valparaiso University School of Law and is a native, with his wife and daughter, of Indiana. As the Bishops work at the national level to advance the cause of marriage in the policy arena, Dan's service and expertise will be an important component. He started his new position on June 20 where he joins fellow USF alumnus Don Clemmer, who works in the U.S. Bishops' media office.
Danny McDaniel (MSE '87) is a candidate for City Council in Lafayette, Ind. this fall, and was given the 2011 Man of the Year award by the Notre Dame Club of Detroit.
Melissa (Goldsberry) Rice (BS '04) is a Neonatal-Perinatal Fellow at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine.
Danielle Collins (BA '11) recently accepted a position at Bishop Dwenger High School as a Communications Coordinator.
Jessica Beer (BSN '11) is working at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne as a radiologic technologist.
