USF Men 8th At Little State

Fri-Sat. April 11-12, 2008

INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The University of Saint Francis men's track team finished eighth out of 19 teams at the annual Little State meet hosted at IUPUI.  The women's team finished 14th out of 18 teams.

Leading the way for the Cougars was senior Adam Longsworth who won the hammer throw at 169-07, was second in the discus with a toss of 168-04 and second in the shot put with a mark of 51-05.

"Adam had a tough day on Friday, " said Coach Sarah Thrall.  "He goes 168 in the discus to take the lead, then John Bowman from IWU comes back with a 177.  Then he went to the shot where he really had some problems, but he was able put it behind him and come back out on Saturday and win the hammer."

Another senior Bart Williams just missed the finals in the shot and hammer, but still threw well as he finished 11th in both events with throws of 43-08 (shot) and 138-09(hammer).

Dustin Wilson made the finals in both his events as he placed second in the 400 with a time of 50.64 and was sixth in the 200 in 22.72.

For the women Jessica Harrison was third in the javelin with a throw of 109-01 and Jean Marqueling finished fourth in the hammer at 143-09.

Morgan Roy jumped her season PR in the long jump at 14-06.5 and Lisa Marie Setnicker ran her best time in the 200 with a 28.01.

"I was very happy with how we competed this weekend, " Coach Thrall added.  "The weather wasn't great, but we were still able to get some good results out of people."

Next week the Cougars will compete in the Spartan Classic at Manchester College.
