Sat., Jan. 26, 2008 CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. -- The USF men's and women's track team competed in their first meet of the 2008 season at the Wabash College Alumni Invitational on Saturday. On the men's side, running in his first ever indoor track meet, freshman Dustin Wilson won the 400 meter dash with a blazing time of 51.5. He was also sixth in the 200 meters at 23.65 and ninth in the 55-meter dash with a time is 6.86. Another freshman, Alex Bush had a great day in his first indoor track meet as he ran a time of 4:48.66 in the mile, good for fifth place, and he came back with a 2:14 in the 800. Senior Bart Williams hit the B standard for the National Meet in the weight. His throw of 15.38 meters was good for third place. Williams also added a third-place finish in the shot put. Freshman Nick Adams came in seventh in the shot with a throw of 12.41m and junior Matt Truttling placed eighth with a throw of 12.28m. On the women's side, freshman Jean Marqueling finished fifth in the women's weight throw at 13.12m. Senior Lisa Marie Setnicker also had a strong day as she finished sixth in the long jump with a jump of 15-03.75, 11th in the 55-meter dash with a time of 8.12 and was eighth in the 400 at 1:08.03. "We had some really good performances out there today," said Head Coach Sarah Thrall. "First meets are always tough, but we see what we can work on to improve. For Bart to be throwing this well this early is really great to see. Lisa and Morgan (Roy) both performed great in the long jump too." The Cougars will be at the Taylor Invite on Saturday February 2 in Upland, Ind. starting at 10 a.m. |
