Sat., March 31, 2007

BLUFFTON, Ohio -- Junior Adam Longsworth qualified for three throwing events and won all three to lead the University of Saint Francis track and field efforts at the Beaver Invitational hosted by Bluffton College on Saturday.

"It was good to see Adam qualify for the National Outdoor Championships in all three events and Bart Williams produced a PR in the hammer," USF coach Sarah Thrall observed.

The Cougar men finished fourth out of six teams with 70 points.

The Lady Cougars finished fourth out of five teams and they compiled what may be an outdoor team high for points with 99 led by Kim Brumbaugh, who won the long jump and finished second in the triple jump. Bessie Jenkins, competing in her first collegiate meet, tied for first in the high jump to add nine points for USF.

Lisa Marie-Setnicker added two third-place finishes and  Amy Roberts added a second and a third.

"I was happy with how both our men's and women's teams competed," Thrall added. "We were missing Zeb Bartolome (illness) and Jessica Taghon, Morgan Roy and Alex Hornstein on the women's side.

"Kim jumped really well in both the long and triple," Thrall continued. "It was also nice to see Amy Roberts bounce back from last weekend and run two good races for us and Tiffany Bremer ran an outdoor PR in the 5k."
