JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. --
University of Saint Francis weight specialist Adam Longsworth
will return to the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championship
which start today and continue through Saturday (March 10).
Longsworth will compete
in the weight throw on Friday, March 9, starting with
preliminaries at 2 p.m. with finals to follow the completion
of preliminaries. The shot put begins Saturday, March 10, at
1 p.m. with finals to follow.
Heading into the
championships for the second year in a row, Longsworth, an
Elmhurst H.S. graduate, has the eighth best distance in the
weight throw this season at 54 feet, 4 inches (16.56 meters)
recorded in the DePauw Invitational. Topping the weight
throw list is Eric Flores (Black Hills State) at 58-5.
Longsworth is the
No. 9 seed in the shot put with a best of 53-1 (16.19m) at
the Anderson Invitational.
In 2005-06,
Longsworth did not produce a qualifying effort in the weight
throw. He finished 14th in the shot put with a best effort
of 50-9 1/2 in the preliminaries, his best effort in the
2005-06 indoor season.
