Fast Track Equals Fast Times For Cougars At IU

BLOOMINGTON, IN--IU's banked 200 meter track worked to the USF sprinters advantage on Friday as all of them posted season PR's at IU's Hoosier Hills Open meet.

Dustin Wilson finished 9th out of 30 runners in the men's 400 with a time of 50.20 and also ran a seasons best in the 200 at 23.31. Justin Hoover also ran a good meet with two PR's of 55.9 in the 400 and 24.67 in the 200.

Bart Williams placed 11th in the men's shot put with a throw of 13.84 and Matt Truttling threw a PR in the shot put for the second week in a row as his throw of 13.51 gave him 14th place.  Running the 3k for the first time was freshman Alex Bush who ran tough and finished with a 9:37.42.

On the women's side, Morgan Roy had her best in both the 60 meter dash at 8.52 and in the 200 with a time of 28.86. Amy Roberts continued her improvement in the women's 3k as she ran 11:41,  ten seconds faster than she ran the previous week and freshman Jean Marqueling had her season's best  in the shot with a throw of 10.86 which was good for 8th place.

"I was real happy with how our sprinters ran today," said Head Coach Sarah Thrall.  Dustin and Morgan both ran extremely well, but Justin, Jimmy-Dan (Connors) and Angela (Saraceno) all dropped time in their events as well."

USF will finish their indoor season on Saturday at Anderson at the Fred Wilt Invitational.  The meet will start at 3pm.
