MARION,
IN--
The University of Saint Francis men's and women's track teams
finished fourth out of eight teams at the IWU invite.
The
Cougars were led by freshman Nick Adams who placed second in
the weight with a throw of 47-05. Another freshman, Dustin
Wilson also garnered a second place finish in the 400 meter
dash with a time of 50.99. Wilson also went on to place 6th in
the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.57.
Matt
Truttling also had a good day in the ring as his 43-05 in the
shot was good for 6th place and his 29-10 throw in the weight
placed him 9th.
On the
women's side, Jean Marqueling finished 6th in the shot with a
throw of 34-05 while Kathlyn Rounds finished 8th at
28-03.75. Rounds also placed 5th in the weight
with a PR of 32-10.25
Amy
Roberts ran to a 7th place finish in the 3000 meter run with a
time of 11:50 and Lisa Marie Setnicker was 9th in the long
jump at 15-07.50.
"Nick's
47-05 throw in the weight was a huge PR for him, " said Head
Coach Sarah Thrall. "He was here all summer working out
with Adam (Longsworth) learning technique, lifting and doing
everything he could to become a better athlete. It's
really starting to pay off for him now.
"Amy
took about 30 seconds off her 3k time from the previous week
which was nice to see, " Coach Thrall added. " Due to injury,
she hasn't been able to train as well. She's only had a
couple of real solid weeks of training so I expect to see her
time drop even more over our last few meets"
Next up
for USF will be the Hoosier Hills Invitational at IU on Friday
February 15th.
