  FINDLAY, Ohio -- In his first indoor collegiate track meet, University of Saint Francis freshman Contrell Conwell earned a seventh-place finish in the high jump at the University of Findlay Classic, the best finish for the Cougars among a number of strong performances in the 2-day event at the Malcolm Athletic Center.

USF freshman sprinter Zeb Bartolome qualified for the 55-meter dash finals and Adam Longsworth continued his quality performances in the weight events in the second meet of the indoor season for the Cougars.

Conwell jump 6 feet, 2 3/4 inches in his first meet for the Cougars.

  Bartolome finished 14th with a time of 6.73 seconds. Longsworth finished 10th in the weight throw and 11th in the shot put.

"Zeb, Contrell and Gilbert have only been working out with us for about a week now," USF head coach Sarah Thrall said. "I’m really looking forward to seeing how much they can improve once we get them into race shape and work on their form. Contrell also had a good showing in the high jump for us."  

Thrall was also encouraged by the efforts of the USF women.

"This weekend went well for our first meet.  We have some things we need to work on, but I’m confident that as the season goes on, we will improve," Thrall said.

"I was really pleased with Tiffany Bremer in the 5k.  Last year she never broke 22:00 indoors so she is way ahead of where she was last year at this time.  Lisa Marie had a PR in the long jump and Alex competed well in the 400 and ran a great lead off leg for us in the relay."

Alex Hornstein had the best finishes for the Lady Cougars. The senior finished 18th in the 400-meter run and ran the lead leg for USF in the 4 X 400 relay which finished 19th.
