2008 Women Soccer Schedule

The University of Saint Francis Women’s Soccer Team has released the 2008 schedule.  

 USF will match-up with 3 new faces in 2008 in Pikesville University (KY), Roberts Wesleyan University (NY), and Mount Saint Joseph's College (OH).  Roberts Wesleyan advanced to the Region IX Quarter finals in 2007 and Mount Saint Joe finished 11-7-1 in 2007.  "We scrimmaged the Mount a couple years back and they are a solid team" Coach Nuber commented. 

Other Non- Conference matches include Indiana Tech (4-1 win in 2007), Defiance College (3-0 all-time), and Judson (thrilling 2-2 overtime tie on 2007).  4 rivalry / revenge match-ups include Walsh University (4-0 loss at the National Soccer Festival), Siena Heights University (1-0 season opening loss in 2007), Mount Vernon Nazarene (3-0 loss in 2006), and the Regional Semi-Final re-match against Aquinas University.

"We diffidently have a few non-conference games circled on the schedule" Coach Nuber says.  "We were embarrassed by Walsh early in the season so that is a redemption game.  Siena Heights is always a fight and we owe them since they beat us at home last year.  The Mount Vernon game is a re-match of the 2006 game which we lost 3-0 giving up all three goals after loosing our keeper to an ACL injury and playing an entire half with a field player in goal.  Then the obvious rematch with Aquinas". 

The Conference schedule will be tough this year as a new format sends the Cougars on the road again to play conference rivals Indiana Wesleyan and Spring Arbor.  USF pulled a dramatic upset against Spring Arbor in 2007 sending USF to the conference finals.  The other notable conference match will be on October 14th when Grace College comes to USF.  Grace upset USF in 2007 with a 4-1 win.  "The MCC is getting stronger and stronger by evidence of our loss last year to Grace.  Huntington University and Marian are both programs that can beat you on any given day and Bethel and Taylor will be much improved and Goshen always give us problems".
