The
University of Saint Francis Women’s Soccer Team’s 2006-07
Grade Point Average ranked third of 1,437 collegiate women’s
soccer teams – including all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA teams.
The USF
team posted a remarkable 3.62 GPA last year, earning the
lofty ranking. Only Rockhurst
University (3.68) and
Goshen College (3.63) had a higher GPA.
“This is a remarkable achievement
for Coach Ken Nuber and his team,” said Mark A. Pope, USF
Director of Athletics. “Coach Nuber has truly stressed the
“Student” component of “Student-Athlete.” I commend him,
his staff and our Soccer Team on this phenomenal effort.”
“I am extraordinarily proud of
these remarkable young ladies,” said Coach Ken Nuber. “This
team achieved great things this year, both on the playing
field and in the classroom. They were NAIA Region VIII
Finalists this year, losing the Championship in the 107th
minute. And they still found time to give back to the
community, raising nearly $6,000 for the V Foundation for
Cancer Research last spring and volunteering their time to
provide a free 8-week clinic for young children.”
This is not the first time that
the USF Women’s Soccer Team has achieved such lofty academic
success: for the past three years, their GPA has been in
excess of 3.6. Their overall GPA has been 3.33 for the past
ten years.
