MARION,
IN.
-- The
12th ranked Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan edged the Cougars
in the MCC tournament championship 1-0.
Both teams
fought off early nerves as the play remained even for the
first 20 minutes. IWU began to take control and scored
on a free kick with just 4 minutes remaining in the half.
The second half saw the game get physical with the majority
of the calls going IWU's way. At the end of the day,
USF could only create a few scoring opportunities and only
puit1 shot on goal.
"We
struggled to create scoring opportunities and that was our
downfall. We just could not get in a rhythm and I
credit IWU for that" Coach Nuber commented after the game.
"I am very proud of our team and how they handled the
atmosphere. IWU always has a crowd that you just don't
want to play in front of but we blocked it out and we can
hold our head high. We win with class and lose with
dignity".
