Fort Wayne IN
-- The Cougars got back on the winning track with a
convincing 4-1 victory over cross town rival Indiana Tech.
Senior
Megan Garrett celebrated her birthday with a goal and an
assist to pace the attack and Freshman Kari Baughn picked up
her first collegiate win in goal recording 1 save.
Junior Mary Whisler took a pass from Garrett in just the
second minute and drilled a ball past the Tech keeper.
Indiana Tech fought hard and kept the score at 1 into the
half but could not hold off a determined USF side.
Megan Garrett scored from 25 yards to push the score to 2-0.
Just 1 minute later, Sophomore Kara Schultheis floated a
ball into the net to extend the lead to 3-0. Senior
Laura Leffers finished the USF scoring off a corner kick
taken by freshman Rachel Schenk. Kari Baughn was
denied her first full shutout when Indiana Tech's Sara
Davies scored with just 45 seconds remaining.
The
Cougars return to MCC action on Saturday for Senior day
against Goshen College at 4:00.
