-- USF fell behind 2-0 at half time and never
recovered as the Grace Lancers defeated the Cougars for the
first time in school history. .
Grace
scored their first goal in the 5th minute on a corner kick
that the Cougars could not clear. Just four minutes later,
Aubrey Evans beat 2 USF midfielders and launched a shot just
over the reach of USF keeper Stacey Rider. Grace took
the 2-0 lead into halftime.
The first
10 minutes of the second half belonged to the Cougars but
they just could not score. Grace finally broke through
on a counter goal in the 58th minute. Before USF could
regroup, Grace took a shot that deflected into the side
netting to finish their scoring at 4. USF scored a
late goal when senior Ashley Henry collected a pass from
fellow senior Abby Bigelow and drove a shot into the upper
corner.
"I give
the credit to Grace. They came out with heart and
energy and played a great game. They were by far the
best team on the field today" Coach Nuber commented
after the match.
