-- USF tallied 3 first half goals en route to a
5-0 Mid Central Conference win over Huntington University.
Senior
Laura Leffers got the scoring started in the 25th minute
when she tapped the rebound home from junior Mary Whisler.
Just 6 minutes later, Senior Megan Garret thundered home a
shot from 25 yards that beat the Huntington keeper.
Five minutes later in the 36th minutes, Leffers would tally
her second goal of the game with a 1 touch shot from a cross
from fellow senior Ashley Henry. Huntington University
created a few quality opportunities but senior Stacey Rider
made 2 great saves to keep the score 3-0 at half.
The
Cougars would put the game away in the 70th minute when a
Leffers throw in found Megan Garret who dropped a ball to
Whisler who drilled a ball in to the corner. Mary
Whisler would finish the scoring at 5 from a corner kick
taken by Laura Leffers.
"I am
very proud of the team today. We have been slowed by
injuries and that has really effected our confidence.
We played possibly our best over all game today " Nuber stated.
Senior Stacey Rider recorded her 21st shutout of her career
moving her into 2nd place in USF history behind USF's keeper
coach Natalie Wiegmann. "Stacey is such a great keeper
and a great leader. She deserves the recognintion"
