Fort Wayne,
Indiana -- Sophomore Sara Thieme is back! After
missing most of the 2006 season with a torn ACL, Sara Thieme
made her impact with 2 goals against Illinois power Judson
College.
Judson scored the first
two goals of the match in the 16th and 24th
minute. Christina Thornton scored her fifth goal of the
season to make it 1-0. Just eight minutes later, Baerbel
Hartner made it 2-0 with an assist from Thornton.
The 2-0 lead did not last
long as Sara Thieme responded just 18 seconds later when
freshman Maddie Leffers sent a ball through and Thieme
finished it.
USF kept fighting in the 2nd
half as they scored in the 53rd minute to tie the
game at two. Sara Thieme headed in Laura Leffers shot off the
crossbar Right after the goal, there was a 20-minute
lightening delay as both teams went to the locker room.
After the lightening delay,
both teams battled to the end but could not score. In
overtime, Judson had two shots hit the crossbar but could not
get the game winning goal.
"I was extremely happy with
the reaction of the team today. We had not come back for
a two goal deficit in a long time so today was sweet even
though we did not get the result" Coach Nuber commented.
The Cougars travel to
Defiance College on Wednesday.
