Fort Wayne,
Indiana -- In the opening game of the National Soccer
Festival, the Lady Cougars gave up 2 goals in each half to
drop to 0-2 for the 2007 season.
Walsh jumped out early with a goal in the 5th minute and
followed that up with the second in the 15th minute.
USF fought hard and carried the play but still went to the
locker room with a 2-0 deficit. USF came out strong in
the second half putting 5 shots on goal but Walsh countered
with 2 goals in a 5 minute span starting in the 57th minute
to put the game out of reach.
USF held a
shot advantage of 16 to 8 and a corner kick advantage of 6-1
but just could not finish.
"I give
Walsh credit for finishing their opportunities. They
are a veteran team that is going to have a great year in the
American Mideast conference" Coach Nuber stated.
USF is
back in action Friday at 6:30 against 1-0 Aquinas College.
