WAYNE, Ind. -- Concordia Lutheran High School senior Sara
Thieme signed a letter-of-intent Monday to attend the
University of Saint Francis where she will continue her
academic and athletic careers as a member of head coach Ken
Nuber's Lady Cougar soccer program.
"Sara is a great kid from a great
family that will be a valuable part of our success during her
career here at USF," Nuber said. "She is a proven goal scorer
that also can play in some other roles, but I expect her to
play up front with us. She still has a lot to look forward to
during her high school career, but we are excited about this
decision and adding her to the team."
Thieme is Concordia's all-time
leading scorer and earned All-Summit Athletic Conference
honors in each of her first three seasons. She had 52 career
goals and 25 assists entering her senior year and garnered
Team MVP honors following her sophomore and junior campaigns.
Primarily a forward, Thieme also is a capable goalkeeper,
drawing spot starts between the posts for both her high school
and club sides. In
addition to her soccer exploits for the Cadets, she is a
four-year varsity starter for the CLHS basketball team as its
point guard. She plays her club soccer with Fort Wayne Citadel
FC and is a team captain.
