#5 USF headed west to tackle unbeaten, #2 Carroll

Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007

NAIA FCS Semifinal

The University of Saint Francis will keep its bags packed for a trip west this week to play 2nd-ranked and undefeated Carroll College in Helena, Mont., on Saturday, Dec. 1. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:07 p.m. Fort Wayne time.

NAIA officials announced the pairings early Sunday afternoon.

“They are an excellent, well-coached, talented team,” USF head coach Kevin Donley said about the 13-0 Saints. “We’re playing our best football of the season, so it is a great semifinal match-up, one we’re looking forward to.”

USF is playing in its fifth consecutive NAIA Football Championship Series semifinal while the Saints advanced to their seventh semifinal in eight seasons. CC advanced with a hard-earned 27-16 win over No. 11 Morningside.

The Cougars advanced 30-27 on the foot of sophomore place-kicker Rhys (Reese) Barnhart, who kicked a 39-yard game-winning field goal at Bethel College in McKenzie, Tenn., on Saturday (Nov. 24). His boot gave USF its first road win in six NAIA FCS attempts. The Cougars won their 41st road game and are 41-14 in 10 seasons, 32-7 over the last seven seasons (2001 to present).
