Cougars move up to No. 4 in final 2007 NAIA Top 25

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the fifth consecutive season the University of Saint Francis football team finished in the top four of the NAIA Top 25 post-season rating released on Monday.

Bolstered by its upset win at Bethel College (TN), which was No. 4 in the final regular season rating, the Cougars finished No. 4 in the final NAIA Top 25. The Cougars finished No. 5 in the final Top 25 of the regular season.

Head coach Kevin Donley directed USF to an 11-2 record and to its fifth consecutive NAIA Championship Series Final 4. USF made the NAIA FCS for the ninth consecutive season, the current longest active streak. It was also the Cougars sixth straight double-figure win season and seventh in the last eight seasons. USF has finished in the Top 10 in seven of the last eight seasons.

Carroll College (MT) finished No. 1 and 15-0 after winning its fifth NAIA FCS Championship in six seasons. CC ended the Cougars 2007 season with a 23-7 win over USF in an NAIA FCS Semifinal game.

The Cougars are 102-22 in 10 seasons under Donley’s guidance.  USF has been ranked in the Top 25 for 100 consecutive polls starting back on Oct. 26, 1999 when the Cougars were No. 25.
