KANSAS
CITY, Mo. – For the fifth consecutive season the University
of Saint Francis football team finished in the top four of
the NAIA Top 25 post-season rating released on Monday.
Bolstered by its upset win at Bethel College (TN), which was
No. 4 in the final regular season rating, the Cougars
finished No. 4 in the final NAIA Top 25. The Cougars
finished No. 5 in the final Top 25 of the regular season.
Head
coach Kevin Donley directed USF to an 11-2 record and to its
fifth consecutive NAIA Championship Series Final 4. USF made
the NAIA FCS for the ninth consecutive season, the current
longest active streak. It was also the Cougars sixth
straight double-figure win season and seventh in the last
eight seasons. USF has finished in the Top 10 in seven of
the last eight seasons.
Carroll College (MT) finished No. 1 and 15-0 after winning
its fifth NAIA FCS Championship in six seasons. CC ended the
Cougars 2007 season with a 23-7 win over USF in an NAIA FCS
Semifinal game.
The
Cougars are 102-22 in 10 seasons under Donley’s guidance.
USF has been ranked in the Top 25 for 100 consecutive polls
starting back on Oct. 26, 1999 when the Cougars were No. 25.
