FINDLAY, Ohio – University of Saint
Francis inside linebacker Brian Kurtz has been selected
Mid-States Football Association Mideast League Player of the
Week for Sept. 16. One of three
captains for the Cougars, Kurtz had nine tackles, four solo,
returned an interception for 17 yards, had one pass broken up
and two tackles for loss for one yard each in the 63-0 USF win
over Pikeville College (KY) on Sept. 16.
This is the second time Kurtz, a 2006
Pre-season Victory Sports Network All-American and 2005 NAIA
first-team All-American, has won the weekly conference
tribute. It was the second week in a row he was nominated.
Kurtz, a Bishop Luers High School graduate, is the sixth
Cougar to win the award twice in a career on defense.
Kurtz joins senior teammate Eric Hooks,
who was MSFA Offensive Player of the Week last week.
