Ohio – University of Saint Francis quarterback Eric Hooks
has been named Mid-States Football Association Mideast
League Offense Player of the Week for his performance the in
the Cougars’ season-opening win at
William
Penn University.
Hooks, a 5-foot-11 senior out of
Indianapolis
(North Central H.S.) threw for 244 yards and touchdowns of
14 and 18 yards in No. 2 USF’s 39-6 win over the Statesmen.
Hooks, making his first start at quarterback, led USF to a
TD on its first offensive possession, a 10-play, 81-yard
drive. He later scored on a dive into the end zone on a
10-yard run. He finished 20-for-38 passing without an
interception helping USF win its 42nd consecutive
regular-season victory.
Hooks,
who served as No. 2 QB to Chris Bramell the last two seasons,
is the fourth USF quarterback to earn at least one MSFA MEL
Player of the Week.
