Warren
Maloney, 2005 MSFA Assistant Coach of the Year, plunges into
his ninth season on the defensive side of the ball for the
Cougars with seven NAIA All-Americans, three NAIA All-American
Honorable Mention selections and 37 All-MSFA selections to his
credit over the last six seasons.
Maloney employs a 4-4 scheme that put the USF defense among
the top 5 in NAIA in 2005 for fewest yards allowed rushing,
fewest total yards allowed and fewest points allowed. Maloney
also serves as football recruiting coordinator for the
Cougars.
Prior to joining the USF staff, Maloney served at California
University, PA., where he coached the offensive line for one
season. He was the defensive coordinator at Delray Beach
Atlantic (FL) for eleven years before joining coach Donley's
staff at Cal. Maloney’s first coaching job was at
Northeastern High School (FL) where he served two seasons as
defensive coordinator.
Maloney obtained his bachelor’s degree from Franklin College
(IN) in 1983. Maloney was a three-year starter at Franklin
College under Indiana Football Hall of Fame head coach Stewart
“Red” Faught, who later was an assistant on Donley’s staff at
Georgetown in 1991. Maloney is a Shelbyville (IN) High School
graduate.
