FORT WAYNE,
Ind. -- Nineteen points and six assists from sophomore point
guard Toni Burney helped the No. 8 University of Saint
Francis women's basketball team to an 86-70 win over No. 2
Cedarville University in the opening game of the Stifel,
Nicolaus & Company Incorporated Classic at Hutzell Athletic
Center Friday.
The Lady
Cougars shot lights out all night, hitting 32-of-59 field
goal attempts, including 10-of-17 three-point tries. The
high percentage made up for 17 turnovers, several of which
came as a result of Cedarville's half-court trap in the
second half.
Chivonn
Keppeler came alive after halftime, scoring 12 points in the
final 20 minutes -- 16 total. Nikki Lewis finished with 14
and Jessica Hathaway 12. Cedarville's Brittany Smart led all
scorers with 24.
USF plays
again tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. versus
University of Saint Francis (Ill.).
