FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Eighty-one
percent free-throw shooting wasn't good enough for the
University of Saint Francis and Indiana Wesleyan University
escaped Hutzell Athletic Center with an 84-80 overtime win
over the Cougars on Saturday afternoon.
IWU (14-6, 3-4 MCC) hit
7-of-10 free throws in overtime, Ryan Hetrick hitting four
consecutive to close out the scoring for the Wildcats.
Antonio Murrell led five Wildcats in double figures with 20
points. Zach Coverstone added 15, Jon Moon 13, Spencer
Harris 11 and Will Hubertz 10.
Mike Steinau scored 37
for USF, 19 in the second half and overtime for USF (11-10,
2-6 MCC). He also hit 14-of-15 free throws, but missed the
second of two with 14 seconds to play. USF led 70-68, but
Murrell scored just in the paint with 0.8 seconds to send
the game into overtime. Nate Bojrab added 14 points and Eric
Eaton 10 for USF, which hit 25-of-31 free throws. IWU made
22-of-33 free throws.
USF led 37-32 at
halftime, but IWU
opened the second half with an 18-6 run to
takes its biggest lead of the game, 50-43 with 13:43 to play
in the game.
