                  <span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Arial">CHICAGO – 
                  USF showed some signs of rust after an eight-day layoff, but 
                  made just enough plays down the stretch to hold off Viterbo 
                  University (Wis.) 66-61 in its opening-round game at the 
                  Midwest Tournament hosted by Saint Xavier University (Ill.). 
                  Trey Eaton hit arguably the biggest bucket of the night for 
                  the Cougars, a three-pointer that extended a five-point Cougar 
                  lead to eight – 62-54 – with 3:48 to play.</span></p>
                  <p class="MsoNormal">
                  <span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Arial">After a 
                  see saw first 15 minutes, USF (7-7) opened up a 38-29 lead at the 
                  break. The Cougars came out hot from long distance, shooting 
                  6-12 from three-point range in the first half. Dusty Beucler 
                  nailed two threes and finished the opening 20 minutes with 11 
                  points en route to a game-high 19. </span></p>
                  <p class="MsoNormal">
                  <span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Arial">The 
                  Cougars led by 13 on two occasions in the second half only to 
                  see Viterbo (6-7) cut the advantage to three with less than two 
                  minutes to play.&nbsp; Still leading by three – 64-61 – with 30 
                  seconds to play, USF secured victory when Chase Holden grabbed 
                  a Viterbo three-point miss and found Beucler alone at the 
                  other end of the court for an uncontested dunk to set the 
                  final margin. </span></p>
                  <p class="MsoNormal">
                  <span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Arial">Viterbo 
                  got back in the game in the second half, largely due to USF’s 
                  futility at the free-throw line. The Cougars were just 6-12 
                  from the stripe after halftime with Beucler and Holden 
                  combining to miss four consecutive charity tosses at one 
                  point. The Cougar victory also came in spite of shooting just 
                  37.5% from the floor in the game (21-56).</span></p>
                  <p class="MsoNormal">
                  <span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Arial">Beucler’s 
                  19 points came on 6-12 shooting (3-5 from deep) from the floor 
                  and 4-7 accuracy at the line. Eaton went 4-11 with two threes 
                  and hit 4-5 free throws for 14 points. Holden scored seven 
                  points and grabbed a game-high 12 boards. Zach Beiswanger had 
                  five points and five assists (no turnovers) for USF. </span>

                  Cougars return to action against hosts Saint Xavier Monday at 
                  8 p.m. EST. SXU advanced by virtue of a 68-46 win over 
                  Benedictine (</span><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Arial">Kan.</span><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Arial">) 
                  in round one. </span></p>
