Dec. 21, 2004 CHICAGO – Aquinas scored with six seconds left to play to hand the University of Saint Francis its second straight heart-breaking loss, 70-69, on Tuesday night in the third-place game of the St. Xavier University Midwest Tournament. Following the Saints' go-ahead bucket, USF's Ryan Bradley had a decent look as time expired, but was unable to get it to fall. Bradley led all scorers with 22 points. The sophomore guard hit 4-5 from three-point territory (7-9 overall from the field) and 4-5 from the free-throw line. Three other Cougars (John Gensic, Zach Beiswanger and Chase Holden) finished with 10 points. Trey Eaton and Virgil Akers sat out the loss with injuries suffered against Saint Xavier Monday night. The loss drops the Cougars to 7-9 on the year. USF hosts the Luxbury Cougar Classic Dec. 27-28 at Hutzell Athletic Center. The Cougars play Ohio State University-Lima on Dec. 27 and 8 p.m. and Wright State University-Lake Campus on Dec. 28 at 8 p.m. -Go USF- |
