Jeff Rekeweg, Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jeff Rekeweg has established himself as the winningest basketball coach in USF / SFC history with five 20-win seasons in 10 years. That’s four more than the 32 seasons prior to the arrival of Rekeweg on the University of Saint Francis men’s basketball scene.

The Cougars won 21 games in 2005-06, the fifth 20-win season in Rekeweg’s last eight years leading the USF program. In 2003-04, and the Cougars advanced to the Mid-Central Conference Tournament championship game for the second time in USF history, both under Rekeweg’s guidance.  USF has won at least 14 games in nine of his 10 seasons, so this DeKalb High School graduate, who was an 1984-85 Indiana All-State selection, has proven he knows the coaching game. In 2003-04, he took over as No. 1 on the USF career basketball coaching wins list when his Cougars upset No. 7 Marian for Rekeweg’s 149th win to pass USF Athletic Hall of Fame coach Jim Holstein, who finished with 148 victories.

That Rekeweg knew the game was evident in his first season as the fifth basketball coach in the history of the basketball program. Though he inherited a team that had no starters returning from the previous 16-16 season (1995-96) and less than 14 points returning, the 1996-97 Cougars won eight games (8-23). The seeds for success were firmly planted. USF nearly doubled its win total (15-18 overall) in 1997-98 and became a respectable opponent in the MCC.  The Cougars continued their rise toward national recognition with back-to-back 20 win seasons, a USF first.  The 31 victories by USF in 1999-2000 shattered the previous record of 22 wins (1998-1999).  That 1999-00 squad also became the fastest team in school history to reach the 20-win plateau in their 24th game.  Rekeweg also guided USF to its longest win streak in history and tied a National record of 20 consecutive victories during the 1999-2000 season.

For his efforts in guiding USF to the most wins in school history in 1999-00, winning their first ever MCC championship by going 14-0 and earning a first-ever trip to the NAIA National Tournament including an Elite Eight performance, Rekeweg was named Mid-Central Conference Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year.  Rekeweg's 163 wins ranks him No. 1 in all-time wins and winning percentage at USF.

A native of Auburn, Indiana and a graduate of DeKalb High School, Rekeweg concluded his college-playing career at the University of Nebraska, where he completed his undergraduate studies in business.  Rekeweg was named a two time all-conference player in High School along with being named to the all-state team he senior season.  Rekeweg became the starting small-forward and led the Huskers in both field goals and free throw percentage.  During his senior year he was the only Husker to start every game.

Following his collegiate career Rekeweg played professionally in Europe.  His final pro stop was in California playing in the summer Pro-Am League in Los Angeles for two years.  Rekeweg's coaching career began at DeKalb High School.  After one year at DeKalb, Rekeweg became an assistant coach at Danville Area Community College (IL).  Two years later he was named the head coach of the University of Saint Francis Cougars.

Rekeweg resides in Fort Wayne, with his wife Rebecca and their daughters Ariana, Jordan, Grace, Emma and Jenna.
