ORMOND BEACH, Fla. -- A
shortage of timely hitting was the difference for the University of Saint Francis
in its double-header loss to Jamestown College on Sunday.
Jamestown won Game 1 5-0
and Game 2 4-2.
In Game 1, Bart Schnur
went the distance striking out five. Jarrod Wehri had two
hits for USF, which left eight runners on base.
Jamestown scored two runs
in the first and two in the top of the seventh in Game 2.
Ben Dunlap knocked in Jon Saprosantos, who ripped a one-out
double in the bottom of the seventh, with a ground out. With
two outs, Tony Drysdale singled in another run for the
Cougars, but Mike Ybarra struck out to end the game. Matt
Degitz went the distance and absorbed his first loss of the
season. He had two strikeouts.
Taylor Futterknecht went
2-for-3 and scored the Cougars' first run.
USF resumes action on
Tuesday at Embry Riddle in Daytona Beach, Fla. The first
pitch is schedule for 6 p.m.
