Timely hitting eludes Cougars in pair of losses
Sun., March 9, 2008

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. -- A shortage of timely hitting was the difference for the University of Saint Francis in its double-header loss to Jamestown College on Sunday.

  Jamestown won Game 1 5-0 and Game 2 4-2.

In Game 1, Bart Schnur went the distance striking out five. Jarrod Wehri had two hits for USF, which left eight runners on base.

Jamestown scored two runs in the first and two in the top of the seventh in Game 2. Ben Dunlap knocked in Jon Saprosantos, who ripped a one-out double in the bottom of the seventh, with a ground out. With two outs, Tony Drysdale singled in another run for the Cougars, but Mike Ybarra struck out to end the game. Matt Degitz went the distance and absorbed his first loss of the season. He had two strikeouts.

Taylor Futterknecht went 2-for-3 and scored the Cougars' first run.

USF resumes action on Tuesday at Embry Riddle in Daytona Beach, Fla. The first pitch is schedule for 6 p.m. Click to view live stats on Tuesday night.
