FORT WAYNE, Ind. --
University
of
Saint Francis senior Josh Widman has been named Mid-Central
Conference and NAIA Region VIII Baseball Player of the Week
for his play in eight games last week (March 26-31) for the
Cougars.
The right-fielder from Findlay, Ohio,
batted .471 while establishing a new USF career hit record
with his first hit in the Cougars’ 28-19 win over Defiance
College (OH) on Sunday.
Earlier this season Widman set a new
high for career RBI and
his
total now stands at 95 for his career. The old record was
87. Widman had 5-multi-hit games last week and got at least
one hit in 7 games. He had 16 hits in 34 at-bats to raise
his average this season from .237 to .347.
Widman was named MCC and NAIA Region
VIII POTW once in 2006 as a junior.
