URBANA, Ohio
-- Urbana University avenged an 8-7 loss at Cougar Field last
month with a sweep of the University of Saint Francis baseball
team on a dreary Good Friday afternoon. The Blue Raiders took
game one 11-8 and followed that up with a rain-shortened 11-9
win in game two.
Jarrod Wehri
went 3-for-4 with two RBI and Tony Drysdale went 1-for-3 --
including a two-run home run in the second -- with three RBI,
but it was not enough to over a Blue Raider attack that
touched Kyle Mawer for 10 hits and 11 runs in six innings.
Both teams got after it early, with Urbana holding a 9-6 lead
after three innings, before the Blue Raider bullpen nailed
down the win with scoreless sixth and seventh frames. Jarrod
Limbach was the offensive star for Urbana, going 3-for-4 with
three runs batted in.
Darrion White
got the start on the mound for the Cougars in the nightcap and
surrendered six runs on six hits in three innings. USF roughed
up Blue Raider starter for seven runs on seven hits in 3 1/3
innings.
The Cougars
scored three runs in the top of the fourth and led 8-6 through
four, but Urbana put up a five-spot on Wehri in the fifth to
build an 11-8 advantage. USF got a run back in the top of the
sixth, but deteriorating weather conditions ended the game
after 5 1/2. Mike Ybarra collected two hits in game two and
Drysdale drove in another pair, upping his daily total to five
RBI. Matt DeShon was 3-for-4 with two RBI for Urbana.
USF returns
home to complete a four-game series with MCC rival Indiana
Wesleyan Saturday, April 15. The scheduled doubleheader is set
to begin at 1 p.m. at Cougar Field.
