Saint Francis to Perform Musical
Pump Boys
and Dinettes
March 28 to 30
The University of Saint Francis will perform the musical revue
Pump Boys and Dinettes on March 28 and 29 at 8 p.m.
and March 30 at 2 p.m. in the North Campus auditorium (2702
Spring Street). Tickets can be purchased at the door for $8.
Doors will open 30 minutes before show time for general seating.
Originally performed and written by John Foley, Mark Hardwick,
Debra Monk, Cass Morgan, John Schimmel, and Jim Wann, Pump
Boys takes place at a diner and gas station somewhere along
Highway 57 between Frog Level and Smyrna. The University's
School of Creative
Arts version of Pump Boys and Dinettes is
a high octane musical with styles of Rock n Roll, Blues, with a
little Jimmy Buffet and just a touch of Country. It Stars
Conlan Craft as Jim; David Ackerman as LM; Quentin Jenkins as
Jackson; Melissa Boyle as Prudie Cupp; Melanie Lubs as Rhetta
Cupp; and Roy Castilo as Eddie.
According to director Brad Beauchamp, “The cast will take you
along for a fast paced, rip roarin’ good time.” After each
performance, one audience member will receive a grand prize of a
photograph with the entire cast.

University
Singers and Jazz Ensemble Spring Concert
The University Singers and Jazz Ensemble of the University of
Saint Francis will combine for a spring concert on Tuesday,
April 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the North Campus Auditorium at 2702
Spring Street.
The concert will feature a variety of musical styles, including
Broadway musical numbers, gospel selections, solos, and
ensembles by the University Singers. The Jazz Ensemble will
present favorites from different decades of jazz literature.
The University Singers, under the direction of Don Donaldson, is
in its third year and will perform selections from Gospel Mass
by Robert Ray, a well-known composer from California. His music
has been featured at major choral conventions in bringing new
gospel literature to the listener.
The Jazz Ensemble, directed by Robert Mayer, will feature many
selections that spotlight special soloists. The Jazz Ensemble
plays for numerous events and banquets during the year. This
will be their final performance this academic year.

Music
SOCA offers courses in music appreciation, history,
performance and application. Students are offered the
opportunity to learn guitar, study the history of rock and roll
and learn sound design theories and applications.
- Jazz Ensemble provides students with an opportunity for
serious jazz performance. The Jazz Ensemble performs music
from all parts of the jazz repertoire. Additional instruction
helps to fine tune the jazz musician through regular ensemble
rehearsals.
- The Pep Band performs at all home varsity football and
basketball games to boost Cougar Spirit. It provides the base
of the fan support at the home games.
- University Singers is a collegiate choir which performs
and rehearses a wide variety of music and styles throughout
the year. It enables students to enhance their educational
experience in the performing arts. The club is open to all
University of Saint Francis students who would like to be
involved in the experience and outreach service of music.
Dance
SOCA offers classes in dance that range from beginning ballet
to intermediate jazz styles. These courses offer students and
in-depth understanding of dance by promoting readings, video
viewings and dance compositions which help to develop a deeper
understanding and appreciation of the art of dance.
Theater
The University of Saint Francis offers a fall and spring play
for all USF students. SOCA is involved is all aspects of theatre
production from set construction to performance.
