The university maintains membership in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and participates in the Mid-States Football Association (MCC). University of Saint Francis Announces Fall Production of Playing with Fire
The School of Creative Arts of the University of Saint Francis has announced the fall production of Barbara Field’s drama, Playing with Fire. The production is an adaptation of Mary Shelley’s novel, Frankenstein, and features a cast of six outstanding actors. Five showings of the drama will take place in the North Campus Auditorium off Spring Street: Saturday, October 27 at 8 p.m.; Sunday, October 28 at 2 p.m.; Thursday, November 1 at 8 p.m.; Friday, November 2 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, November 3 at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, November 4 at 2 p.m.
This eloquent play deals with events which transpire after those usually associated with the Frankenstein story—in this case the final, fateful meeting between Dr. Frankenstein and his macabre creation amid the barren wastes of the North Pole.
Admission for the public is $8 admission. University students, faculty and staff are admitted for free. Doors will open 30 minutes before show time for general seating.
For more information contact Amy Schreiber at 260-434-7591.

3 p.m. "Classes without Quizzes" This is the first year of this exciting option during Homecoming on Friday, October 12 from 3 to 5 p.m. Some of the university's talented faculty will offer alumni and their spouses the opportunity to explore a variety of interesting topics. This is your chance to go back into the classroom without quizzes or tuition fees! Classes and supplies are at no cost. To register for a class simply call or email Jessica Swinford at 260-434-2343 or jswinford@sf.edu and give the class you and/or your spouse are interested in attending. Here are the faculty and their exciting topics:
A. Digital Photos 101 - Take better digital pictures (Cara Wade) So you're ready to take a photo. Everything is set. Your subject is smiling and ready to go and you could snap the shot at any moment. But wait…are you sure there's nothing more you can do to improve this photo? Digital cameras are easier to use than ever--but less-than perfect pictures are still a reality. If you've taken pictures that are fuzzy, under-lit, overexposed, or just don't seem to work well, this workshop is for you. We will cover some basic things to consider before you hit "Click." They are easy to learn, and every photo you take will benefit from your newfound expertise. Even a beginner can take professional-looking photographs. (25 people maximum)
B. Applying Emotional Intelligence (EI) at Work (Dr. Lillian Schumacher) This presentation will discuss the basic concepts of emotional intelligence (EI) including competencies (skill sets) that are enhanced as individuals become more emotionally intelligent. EI is about the ability to understand and manage oneself effectively and in doing so, an individual is better able to understand and build relationships with others, so much so that effective workplace performance results. (30 people maximum)
C. The Puzzle of Evidence-Based Nursing Practice: A Closer Look at Some Key Pieces (Dr. Stephanie Oetting) The Iowa Model of Evidenced-Based Practice (EBP) to Promote Quality Care in nursing will be examined, with a particular focus on generating and prioritizing action projects, gathering research and other evidence, and managing the evidence. Strategies that enhance efforts to implement and sustain a change in practice will be explored. Participants are invited to bring a question from their practice area to share and reflect on throughout the presentation. Several useful tools and resources for facilitating EBP will be shared with participants. As time allows, participants will be encouraged to exchange their own experiences of EBP, including obstacles encountered and successes attained.
The Alumni Awards and the Athletic Hall of Fame Dinners have been combined for the first time this year.
