A Fort Wayne networking event will be held on
Thursday, December 6 at DeBrand, Inc., 10105 Auburn Park Drive,
at 6 p.m. Take this opportunity to hear and greet Sister M. Elise Kriss, President, as well as taste the fine chocolates

The Merrillville Chapter Council is busy planning for the
next Merrillville Alumni Networking event that will be held in March 2008.

Indianapolis Alumni Networking Events
The university will host an Indianapolis Alumni family event on Saturday,
February 9, 2008 at Jillian's, 141 South Meridian Street,
beginning at 11:30 a.m. Take time out of your
busy schedule and enjoy a fun-filled family day. Activities include arcade games,
bowling and buffet lunch. If you are interested in this free
event, please RSVP by contacting the Alumni Office at 260-434-3276 or e-mail
aroy@sf.edu.
The university will host an Indianapolis Alumni family
event on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the Indianapolis Zoo,
W. Washington Street. Lunch will be provided in the
Education Suites A & C located inside of the Zoo from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Further details on price of tickets will be available at a later date.
USF Special
Order License Plate--CHANGES TO PROCESS

Great
News! Beginning January 2008!
The State of Indiana is streamlining its license plate
program, and now you can renew your University of Saint Francis license plate
online or at your area branch of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles without an
authorization form from the Alumni Office. |
The $25 fee for your USF plate will be added to the
registration fees charged by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. If you already have a
special plate your renewal form will come in the mail with your fee already
included in the payment amount.
You can renew your plate or order a USF license plate, if
you do not
already have one, go online at
www.state.in.us/bmv. Go to license
plates and scroll down to colleges and universities, look for the USF plate and
click the "online" link.
There will be no more authorization forms and you will not
have to
send a check to the University of Saint Francis. We will
receive a check from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to cover your donation
to university.

Alumni Awards and
Athletic Hall of Fame Award Winners
| On Friday, October 12, 2007 the Awards dinner was held at the North
Campus gymnasium. The event was spectacular from the set-up,
decorations, mood of the evening to the delicious cuisine served by AVI
FoodSystems.
Awards were given to the following individuals:
Athletic Hall of Fame award: Tony
Davis, Distinguished Service award: Kathryn Bloom, Distinguished
Young Alumnus: Benjamin Meyer, Athletic Hall of Fame award: Larry Land, Honorary Alumnus
award: Dr. James Pictor (posthumously) accepted by son Jeff Pictor,
and
Distingushed Alumnus award: Dr. Keith March

The Alumni volleyball players came out on top beating the varsity
volleyball team in three out of five sets. |

The Alumni softball players enjoyed themselves while playing against the
varsity softball team. The varsity team won 8-1. |

Homecoming 2007 was a huge success. The Alumni Tent was well
attended and many alumni took the opportunity to enjoy fellowship with former
classmates and teammates. |

1950s:
Margaret (Redmon) Ellert (SJ '52) has been married to Philip for 55 years
and has six children, 18 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
Martha Jeanette (Pursley) Krieger (BLS '57) announced the publication of
her 13th book, a historical romance, set in England during the reign of
Edward the First, Longshanks The book will be a digital
release, followed by a trade paperback in August 2008. HEARTSONG by Allison Knight aka
Martha Krieger is being published by Champagne Books, Inc. of Canada (www.AllisonKnight.com,

www.AllisonKnight.blogspot.com).

Nicholas Johnson (BSE '70, MSE '75) was recently
honored in the Journal Gazette's Teacher Honor Roll in the October 21,
2007 issue of the newspaper. Nicholas teaches at Robert C. Harris Elementary
School in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Surg Tech Alumni
Updating Skills

Several surgical technology alumni returned to the University of
Saint Francis to update their skills. In conjunction with Dr.
Albert Morrison of Summit Plastic Surgery and Ethicon Suture, Parkview
Hospital brought members of their general surgery and orthopedic teams
to USF's Surgical Technology Laboratory for suturing instruction.
Participants practiced their skills on pigs' feet under the watchful eye
of Dr.Morrison and physican extender Dorrean Vance.

Adam Swinford (BSE '00), Athletic Director at Wayne High School in
Fort Wayne, Indiana helped to establish the Play it Smart Program at the
high school. Pictured is
Dustin Butcher (BA '02) with a Wayne High School student working on
the computer. Butcher is the Academic Coach who works with
athletes to keep their grades up and helps direct them toward college
prep activities, such as taking the SATs and visiting universities. |

John Thorn (AS 2000) and Jill (Hoffman)
Thorn (BS 2003, MS 2006) had their first child, Lahna Faith Thorn
who was born in Whitefish, Montana on September 6, 2007 at 3:51 p.m. and weighed
8 pounds 1 ounce. |
Dr. Matthew Hopf (BS '01) opened Natural Health
Group, Inc. on August 29, 2007. Natural Health Group, Inc offers services in
upper cervical chiropractic, therapeutic massage, reflexology, nutritional
counseling, detoxification and weight loss for all ages and conditions.
Kourtney (Kindt) Hopf (BS '01) recently obtained a position as a
special education teacher at Carroll Middle School and has been accepted into
the educational leadership program at IPFW.
Patricia (Pinkowski) Simms (BS '01) married her husband, Bill in
August 2004. Their first child was a girl born in September 2006. Patricia
earned her Master's in Elementary Education in 2006 and is currently a
stay-at-home mom.
