USF Athletics' GPA over 3.0
 |
Continuing its tradition of academic excellence, the University of Saint
Francis Department of Athletics announced that its 480 Student-Athletes
earned a grade point average of 3.06 (of a possible 4.0) for the
recently-concluded Spring semester. This marks the fourth consecutive
semester that USF Student-Athletes have earned a GPA in excess of 3.0,
and surpasses the 3.03 mark compiled by USF Student-Athletes last Fall.
"We
set a goal of 3.0 for our Student-Athletes each semester," said USF
Director of Athletics Mark A. Pope. "And once again, they have met and
exceeded that goal. This accomplishment reflects the commitment of these
talented young people to excel as both students and as athletes. We have
also received outstanding support from our faculty and coaches, as well
as other offices throughout campus. It truly is a group effort and it's
great to see those efforts rewarded."

USF Reports on Construction Projects
| Sister M. Elise Kriss, President, has announced that the University
of Saint Francis has invested a total of $13.5 million in construction
projects that will create jobs in the local economy as well as meet
university objectives. The university has five construction projects
underway. The first three projects have to do with residence hall
improvements because of consistent growth in the number of students
wishing to live on campus.
At a total of $6.2 million, Clare Hall will provide suite-style
accommodations for 146 students in 42,000 square feet and will be open
for resident students in August.
Bonzel Hall is being renovated to provide lobby space as well as
handicap accessibility. During the past few months, Bonzel and Clare
Halls have been connected with an atrium. During this renovation,
expected to be completed in the summer of 2010, Bonzel Hall will also
receive upgrades in air conditioning and interior finishes.
Demolition is complete on Bosco Hall to make way for access drives
and parking for Clare Hall. Please see pictures below of the demolition.
Work begins this month on Achatz Hall of Science and will be
completed in time for the start of classes in August. This renovation
will add a foyer with space to include a lounge for university students
as well as space for the many students from the local schools for the
Schouweiler Planetarium shows. Upon completion, delayed feeds from NASA
will be broadcast in the lounge.
The last project is the restoration and renovation of the Bass
Mansion; which will take about 18 months to complete. Fundraising has
been underway for several years, and the university is very please to
announce that it has successfully raised more than $5.3 million to
accomplish this goal. |
