Keith Busse School of Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership Business Alumni Event

 

Take Advantage of it.

You are invited to a School of Business alumni event for the University of Saint Francis. Reconnect with old friends, network with fellow alumni and introduce yourself to the new Dean of the Keith Busse School of Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership, Dr. Rita Padmore. Future Fort Wayne Alumni Networking Events

 

The university will sponsor a Fort Wayne Alumni Networking event on Monday, June 23, 2008 at the Fort Wayne Wizards Stadium. We will have one section of the deck for this event. Game time is 7 p.m., and the ticket price is $5.00. This is Dollar Night, so you can purchase hot dogs and drinks for $1.00. Our very own USF student, Katelyn Jacquay will perform the National Anthem. If you are interested, please contact the Alumni Office at 260-434-3276. 

 

 

Future Indianapolis Alumni Networking Events

 

The university will host an Indianapolis Alumni Networking event on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the Indianapolis Zoo, W. Washington Street. The Zoo hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cost is $10.80 for adults and seniors (62+) and $6.80 for children ages 2 through 12. Children under 2 are free. Price includes one complimentary ride on one of the following: White River Junction, Train Ride, Family Coaster, Carousel or pony ride. Lunch served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Education Suites A & C located inside of the Zoo (hamburgers, hot dogs, cole slaw, potato salad, chips, drink, and ice cream cups). Tickets must be obtained through the university and cannot be purchased at the Zoo. To RSVP, please call 260-434-3276.

 

 

Future Merrillville Alumni Networking Events

 

Join us for a USF “Back to School”/Alumni networking event on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Gary RailCats U.S. Steel Yard, 1 Stadium Plaza, Gary, Indiana. Game time is set for 6 p.m. (CST) .

 

A Luxury Suite is reserved and will be available, FREE, for the first 20 people (first come, first served), so reserve your tickets early by calling 260-434-3276 or emailing aroy@sf.edu by Wednesday, July 16, 2008. Get them while they last!

 

After the suite is filled, you have the option to purchase box seat tickets below the suite area (Section 111 & 112) for $9.00 each. Call 260-434-3276 or email aroy@sf.edu to purchase tickets.

USF Special Order License Plate--CHANGES TO PROCESS

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Great News! The State of Indiana is streamlining its license plate program, and now you can renew your University of Saint Francis license plate online or at your area branch of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles without an authorization form from the Alumni Office.

The $25 fee for your USF plate will be added to the registration fees charged by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. If you already have a special plate your renewal form will come in the mail with your fee already included in the payment amount.

 

You can renew your plate or order a USF license plate online at www.state.in.us/bmv. Go to License Plates and scroll down to Colleges and Universities. Look for the USF plate and click the "online" link.

 

There will be no more authorization forms and you will not have to

send a check to the University of Saint Francis.

500 Festival Princess

 

Congraulations to Corianne Warrick '10 for being selected as a 500 Festival Princess in celebration of the Indianapolis 500. Corianne is a junior at USF, majoring in Biology and Chemistry. She is one of 33 women selected from a 263 prospects representing Indiana colleges and universities. Selections were based on community and volunteer involvement. The Queen will be crowned during the May 17th 500 Festival Breakfast at the Brickyard event, which also honors mayors from across Indiana.

 

 

USF Day at the Zoo

 

The fifth annual USF Zoo Day will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. The Zoo hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 2 to 14, and children under 2 are free.  Price includes one complimentary ride on one of the following:  train, sky ride, carousel, or river ride. The USF  lunch and activities will be located at the Foellinger Theater lawn area.  A complimentary lunch will be served from 11:00 am to 1:00pm (turkey sandwich, chips, apple, drink, and cookie). Activities including balloon artists, face painting, a special USF cheerleading activity, and more will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets must be obtained through the University of Saint Francis and cannot be purchased at the zoo. Homecoming Weekend 2008 - "Back the Bass Up"

 

Homecoming 2008 will begin on Friday, October 3 with a program called "Classes without Quizzes" from 3 to 5 p.m. This will give the alumni and their spouse a chance to go back into the classroom without quizzes or tuition fees! The Alumni Awards and Athletic Hall of Fame have been combined and will kickoff the Homecoming weekend! The Awards dinner begins at 6 p.m. and will be located at the North Campus (formerly Abundant Life Tabernacle). Alumni will need to make reservations for this dinner.

 

On Saturday, October 4, we will have an Alumni Tent at the football game, alumni athletics games throughout the day, and an Alumni Family Barbeque in the afternoon. Look for more information in a future Homecoming publication.

 

 

Bass Mansion Memories

 

Do you have a Bass Mansion memory?  If so, we would love to hear from you. Many of you spent hours in the Library during your college days. Is there something special, funny, scary, or entertaining that happened while you were in the Bass Mansion? If so, would you please share your story with us? We are gathering stories now for our "Bass Mansion Memories" booklet for 2008. Please send your story to Sister Marilyn at moliver@sf.edu or by snail-mail to:  2701 Spring St., Fort Wayne, IN 46808. If you are interested in buying a copy of the 2007 Memories booklet, please send a $5.00 donation to the above address, and Sister Marilyn will mail the copy to you. School of Health Sciences Exciting News

 

Stayed tuned! This summer the School of Health Sciences plans to produce an electronic version of the School of Health Sciences newsletter PulsePoints. We hope you enjoy staying connected to the School of Health Sciences, so we will always strive to bring you interesting and timely articles. A print copy of our newsletter will be available in June, but you may also receive a copy of PulsePoints via e-mail. Please keep in touch and send us your updated e-mail addresses! The Modernist Movement and Beyond: The Works of Peter Macchiarini and Daniel Macchiarini/Earl Pardon and Tod Pardon

 

In partnership with the Fort Wayne Museum of Art's American Modernist Jewelry Exhibition, The School of Creative Arts will be showcasing the works of Peter Macchiarini and his son Daniel Macchiarini as well as Earl Pardon and his son Tod Pardon. This exhibit will be held from Friday, May 2 through Friday, May 30 at the Mimi and Ian Rolland Art and Visual Communication Center. This exhibition is curated by Modernist Jewelry Author and Dealer, Marbeth Schon.

 

 

Sisters to Celebrate Jubilees

 

The following Sisters of Saint Francis of Perpetual Adoration are celebrating important milestones in their Religious Life during the upcoming months. St. Joseph School of Nursing Class of 1958 reunion

 

The St. Joseph School of Nursing Class of 1958 reunion was held on Friday, April 25, 2008 at Hall's Guesthouse. There were 24 alumni from the Class of 1958 in attendance. The overall attendance, which included family and friends, were 144 people.

 USF Alumni Women Soccer game

 

On Saturday, April 12th, the women alumni soccer players braved the weather and played a game versus the varsity USF women's soccer team.

After the game, Head Women's Soccer coach Ken Nuber and the alumni women soccer players went out to eat at Lucky's. Assistant Alumni Director Jessica Swinford attended this event and treated the women soccer alumni to dinner.

News and Notes

 

1950s:

 

Jane (Ebeling) Geske (DP '57) a Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing graduate, sent a set of textbooks as well as the Policy and Procedure book that she received when she entered training in 1954 to the university. Dr. Nancy Gillespie, the Dean of the School of Health Sciences gladly accepted these books. Dr. Gillespie is now working to set up a display of historical artifacts for the School of Health Sciences.

 

 

1990s:

 

Dr. Theresa (Schenkel) Schlegel (BS '99) gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Gracie Ann Schlegel, on March 3, 2008. She weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.

 

Andy Pyle (BA '98) and wife, Jessica celebrated the birth of their son, Jackson J. Pyle on May 3, 2008. Jackson weighed 7 pounds and was 21 inches long.

 

 

2000s:

 

Shannon (Dunbar) Meyers (BSE '02) gave birth to a baby boy, Camden Paul Meyers, on March 28, 2008. He weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces and was 22 1/2 inches long

 

Bethany (Rhineholz) Shefferly (BA '04) gave birth to a baby boy, Anthony Michael Shefferly, Jr., on April 16, 2008. He weighed 9 pounds, 3 ounces and was 23 1/2 inches long. Husband, Anthony Shefferly (BA '04, MS '07), Bethany, and baby Anthony Jr. are doing fine!

 

Heather (Weddle) Bontempo (BBA '06) gave birth to a baby girl, Chloe Marie Bontempo, on March 8, 2008. She weighed 5 pounds, 1 ounces and was 19 inches long. Husband, Clint Bontempo (BBA '06), Heather, and baby Chloe are doing fine!

Nidzara Sakinovic (BSE '08) just graduated a week ago from USF with an Elementary Education degree. She was a Bosnian refugee and came to the USA with her family the day before her 12th birthday. Nidzara has a permanent substitute teaching position at Leo Elementary School through the end of the year. She will begin work on a master's degree in education at Saint Francis this summer.
