The university will host an Indianapolis Alumni family event on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the Indianapolis Zoo, W. Washington Street. Lunch will be provided in the Education Suites A & C located inside of the Zoo from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Further details on price of tickets will be available at a later date.

Hear About the "Importance of a Liberal Arts Education"Dr. Paul Ranieri, Executive Director for the Association for General and Liberal Studies at Ball State University, will be presenting on "The Importance of a Liberal Arts Education" on February 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the Mass Mansion. Dr. Paul Ranieri describes himself as a generalist, though his specific training was in first year writing, cognitive development and classical rhetorical theory. A Closer Look Lecture SeriesThe School of Creative Arts presents a diverse group of artists, art historians and critics in its Closer Look Lecture Series. This series engages the Fort Wayne Community in the analysis of specific art forms and artists in a variety of mediums. It also presents multicultural artists and diverse art forms that promote and compliment the visual and performing arts. All Closer Look lectures and performances are free to the public. This series is made possible in part by Canon Explorers of Light, the Advertising Federation of Fort Wayne, Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne, the Indiana Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
"An Evening with Harry
Benson"
The School of Creative Arts will host "An Evening with Harry Benson" on Wednesday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. located at the North Campus Auditorium. Harry Benson will share his photographic experiences and technical expertise through the Canon Explorers of Light program. Benson is known for his work with literally hundreds of the world's famous faces, including the Beatles, Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Jackson, and Truman Capote. His photos of First Families – featuring the Kennedy's, the Clintons and others – have been on exhibit at galleries across the nation. A native of Glasgow, Scotland, Benson came to America with the Beatles in 1964. He began working for LIFE magazine in 1967 and continued with LIFE until it closed in 2002. Now under contract to Vanity Fair, his photographs appear in major magazines throughout America and Europe. Recently, Benson has been awarded with the 2005 Lucy International Award for Lifetime Achievement in Portraits, the 2005 American Photo Magazine Award for Achievement in Photography and the 2006 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Scottish Press Photographers Association. Benson was also given a Doctorate of Letters from Glasgow University in 2007.

32nd Annual High School Exhibition
On Sunday, March 9 from 1 to 3:00 p.m. located at the Mimi & Ian Rolland Art and Visual Communication Center, the 32nd Annual High School Exhibition will open and run through Sunday, March 23. This annual exhibition showcases the very best high school students around the region. High schools from Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio may submit as many as 10 pieces each by their students. Cash awards as well as $30,000 in art scholarships are available to eligible students who participate.

1950s:
Virginia aka Gin (Johnson) Fraser (NDG '59) has five grown children
scattered throughout the world: Mary Fraser Blevins works in the San
Francisco EPA office as an environmental scientist; Jim is an Army chief
warrant officer in Germany; Mary Teresa Davis is an office nurse at a clinic
in the Austin, Texas area; Tom is an electrical engineer working for the
Navy in Virginia; John is a Marine officer in Iraq; and Pete is an Air Force
SSgt on his way to Korea-he recently returned from
his second tour of
duty in Iraq. Our children have given us the blessing of six grandsons and
six granddaughters who range from 10 months to 23 years old.
1960s:
Dr. Linda Bartrom (Weaver/Hamrick) (BS '67, MSE '70) teaches Chemistry and Television Production in Orange County, California. Her students are the only high school to be recognized as nes reporting agency on the Red Carpet at the Oscars.
1970s:
Sally (Sarah) (Freeman/Oringer) Dietz (BA '70) received a Masters of Arts in Labor and Industrial Relations in 1985 from the University of Illinois. In 2006, Sally retired as the Personnel Manager for the Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.
1980s:
Donna M. Mrowka (BA '81) joins Sweetser as the organization's
director of PromiseLine Services. Most recently, she served as Clinical
Director at Ingraham. Prior to Ingraham, Donna worked at Sweetser where she
held various clinical roles for a period of ten years. "Donna offers a
unique set of experiences and skills that allow us to best direct the
Sweeter PromiseLine, and to carry out our promise. We are very pleased to
have her back," says Carl Pendleton, president and CEO of Sweetser.
Tina Taviano (BBA '82) recently was appointed as Director of Communication to run the city of Fort Wayne's emergency communication department.
Catherine (Zink) Wyss (BS '86) recently helped identify a number of students in the Remember When picture from the winter issue of the Mirror Magazine. Catherine and husband Steve are very busy with six children (ages 23 months to 13 years old).
Tracey Johnson (BA '89) recently graduated Law School from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. Tracey is currently working as a Judicial Clerk for Judge Richard Greene of the Kansas Court of Appeals.
1990s:
Kerry (McNamara) Biernacki (BSN '95) and her husband, Joe have an 8 1/2 month old son named Brady.
Kim (Keller) Jones (BSN '96) works for Air-Evac, Inc. Kim is an Area Flight Nurse on a medical helicopter for Hopkinsville and Bowling Green, Kentucky and Lafayette, Tennessee.
Carman Young (BA '98, MS '03) recently accepted a position as a Program Coordinator for Special Events for the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory.
Linda Mautz (BA '99, MSE '03) completed sixty hours in Mental Health Counseling for licensure as LMHC.
2000s:
Jody (Bradford) Bolser (BS '00) gave birth to a baby girl, Camryn Myka, on December 27, 2007. Camryn weighed 10 pounds, 7 ounces and was 22 1/2 inches long. She and husband, Clay Bolser (BA '98), have three other daughters.
Sarah Scholl (BS '01) presented "Successful Management of Helium Gas Embolus following Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump Rupture" at the Society of Critical Care Medicine's Annual Congress in Honolulu, Hawaii. She continues to work as a Physician Assistant Intensivist at Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland, Oregon.
Jeanette (Dubois) Post (BA '03) gave birth to a baby girl, Eleanor Anne (Nora) on October 1, 2006. Husband, David Post (BA '04) began a new position as a Guidance Counselor at Merit Learning Center in January 2008. He will complete his Master's in School Counseling in December 2008 from USF.
Jeanne (Fisher) DeVinney (AS '04) has been accepted to the ASN program at USF, starting Spring 2008.
Brooke Stauffer (BLS '05) recently accepted a position as a Senior Designer for the Indianapolis Zoo.
Marita (Podschlne) Hattem (MBA '06) works at Aspirus in Wausau, Wisconsin and is Vice-President for Physician Support Services.
Megan Heaton (BSW '06) joined the Peace Corps in May 2006. Megan was given an Interruption of Service on January 19, 2008 due to the political violence in Kenya. Megan is not able to return back to her house in Western Province or see all the volunteers in Western, Nyanza. Parts of Rift Valley were evacuated from their sites and people sent back to the States. Megan is very sad about the situation and being unable to finish her projects and say goodbye to the wonderful people she met and worked with for the past year and a half. Currently, volunteers are still in Central and Coast provinces. Some of the volunteers have chosen to go back to the states in hope of being able to come back to Kenya either at their sites or new ones; others have chosen a direct transfer to other countries within Africa. At this time Megan is safely back in the States.
